Choreographer, traditional stepdancer, contemporary dancer and caller, MARIE-SOLEIL PILETTE spent years specializing in traditional stepdancing. Having graduated with a bachelor's in dance from UQAM, she has performed with la Cie de Danse ethnique Migration and the Zogma Collective. She is currently soloing in various projects and contexts, as well as her own work, and dancing with the Rapetipetam trio (lead by Pierre Chartrand) throughout North America ans Europe. She is also invited to teach stepdancing accross Canada and the United States. Founder of SANS TEMPS danse company, she has choreographed "Échos Signés", "Mémoire ", " Chaises " , " Zone Gigue ", original pieces that mix Québec stepdancing and contemporary dance.

MAÏGWENN DESBOIS studied classical ballet with teachers Daniel and Alexandre Sellier and also took professional level dance classes in studios across Montreal. She has danced and choreographed for la Cie Les 20 z'orteils, of which she is also co-founder. She has danced for Marie-Soleil Pilette, Serge Takri, Ghislaine Doté, and la cie Et dansent les Mots. She has also been a member of the afro-brazilian percussion group Zurubais, and assistant artistic director for Les Sortilèges Danses du Monde. She is presently specializing her training in traditional step dancing and African percussions.

PAMELA POULIN studied tap, jazz, ballet and modern dance for 13 years in Timmins, Ontario and has also studied during intensive trainings with the National Ballet School. Having graduated with a bachelor's in dance from UQAM, Pamela has danced for Marie-Soleil Pilette, Martine Époque, Serge Takri and Ghislaine Doté. She is presently specializing her training in traditional step dancing and contact improvisation dance, ans is pursuing graduate studies at UQAM in somatic education.

 

 

A graduate of l'Ecole Superieur de Danse du Quebec, MÉLISSANDRE TREMBLAY-BOURASSA began learning traditional step dance with the group Jeune Sortilèges and with folk ensemble La Gigoise, of which she is a founding member. Through her experience with Le Jeune Ballet du Quebec, she has danced works choreographed by Christophe Garcia, Dominique Porte and Hélène Blackburn on international stages. She has danced in Ballet Ouest's " Nutcracker", Ballet Metropolitain's "Actes Blancs" and for Marie-Soleil Pilette. She currently dances for Les Sortilèges Danses du Monde.

OLENA H studied classical ballet in Montreal, with Alexandre and Daniel Sellier and at the London Studio Center in the United Kingdom. She has taught ballet at Le Conservatoire de Danse de Montréal for five years and received her M.A. in Dance from UQAM. She has danced for various musical and theatre groups and participated in the creative workshop for Zumanity with Cirque du Soleil. She has studied traditional step dance with Pierre Chartrand and is continuing with Marie-Soleil Pilette. She has also danced in "La Magie de Broadway" and for choreographer Shawn Hounsell. She is presently working for both L'Astragale and Sursaut.

 

 

JADE BOUDREAULT-DAZÉ graduated form Collège Lionel-Groulx in Theatre Production. She has created several lighting designs for Marie-Soleil Pilette and Lük Fleury. She has worked as stage manager and production assistant for Théàtre Complice, and as production manager for Productions Sonnes. She has also worked as assistant for stage director Philippe Slovedila, in "Manic: L'oeil du Québec", presented at Baie-Comeau.

Born in Ottawa, NICHOLAS WILLIAMS graduated from York University, where he studied world music, composition, and improvisation. He learned to play the Irish wooden flute from Loretto Reid in Toronto, and has since adapted the instrument to other music styles, including Québecois and American Old-Time. He has been deeply involved in the traditional music circles of Québec, Ontario, and New England, and currently plays with bands Crowfoot, and Les Joueurs de Bon Accord (with fiddler Laura Risk). Nicholas is also a student of North Indian classical music, and makes regular trips to Mumbai to study with Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia. He is exploring the common ground between Celtic and Indian musical traditions and flute playing styles, and plays with tablaist Shawn Mativetsky in the classical North Indian duo Surtaal. He has composed music for dance, film, and the concert stage, and has recently released his second solo CD, 'The Whispering Woods', which features 14 of his own original compositions.

 

Guitarist and banjoist, MARC MAZIADE has studied Jazz arrangement at Cégep St-Laurent, has graduated form Concordia University with a Bachelor's in Jazz studies, and has studied flamenco while travelling in Spain. He composes original works and creates musical arrangements by exploring the rich traditions of folklore, classical and modern music. He created the soundtrack for Marie-Soleil Pilette's "Mémoire". His music can be heard in Réveillons!, La Bande Maisonneuve and Conférentius Gigus.

 

FRANCINE METTHÉ began creating for her clothing store Objectif Look in 1986. She has designed and made costumes for theatre group Les P'tits Mots Dits, and for dance group lavalloise Corévol. She studied clothing techniques at Cégep Marie-Victorin for a year. When she turned to painting, she began integrating cloth and patterns into her mixed techniques work : her canvasses become actual patchworks before being covered by paint. She designed and made the costumes for Marie-Soleil Pilette's "Mémoire".

 

MARC VERRET graduated from the Marsan school of professional photography in 1989, and has been working as an artistic photographer since 1996. He is especially passionate about all forms of movement and the human body's richness of expression.
